The ketogenic diet gets its name from the small fuel molecules called “ketones” produced by your body as an alternate fuel source used when blood sugar levels are low. Instead of burning carbs, your body starts burning stored fat. Once your body starts producing ketones, your body is in ketosis.

Our body’s first fuel choice for energy is carbohydrates, and the standard American diet is very high in carbohydrates. However, when you eat Keto, you consume fewer carbohydrates, which allows your body to burn fat for energy, which also leads to weight loss.

The best way to bring your body into ketosis is to follow the keto diet. To do this, you will need to track your daily net carb intake. The formula for net carbs is Total Carbs – Dietary Fiber = Net Carbs. You can find this by looking at the nutrition label of the foods you eat.

To achieve ketosis, the goal is to keep your net carbs under 25 grams per day. Some people can enter ketosis by eating up to 50 grams of net carbs per day, however, it takes time and testing to determine your tolerance level.

Since your carbohydrate intake on this diet is very low, your food intake must be high in fat or you won’t have enough energy to sustain yourself. You shouldn’t feel like you’re starving, but rather feel supported and have lots of energy. If you’re very hungry, that’s a red flag that you’re not eating enough fat. About 70% of the diet should be fat, 20-25% protein, leaving 5-10% from carbohydrates.

The difference between clean and dirty keto is simple. Clean Keto is a diet of healthy natural foods that are rich in nutrients that your body needs to function properly. Dirty keto often involves eating processed foods, which can contain the right number of carbs each day, but don’t necessarily include filling and nutritious foods.

Low Carb Meal Prep: A Week Of Meals

This Clean Keto Challenge is all about eating clean keto in addition to not consuming dairy. This challenge is meant to reset and refresh your view of a healthy lifestyle in general. If you want to give your body a good start for a healthy everyday life, this challenge is a must.

25g of net carbs per day: Sticking to 25 grams of net carbs per day will put your body into ketosis. The whole point of “keto” is to shift your body from burning carbs for fuel to burning fat for fuel. This is the most important part of the program.

No Dairy, Alcohol, Grains, or Legumes: No dairy, except ghee or clarified butter. You can include dairy-free cheese, sour cream, and cream cheese in this challenge. Make sure to read the labels to make sure the ingredients are clean. No legumes, except green beans. Without alcohol or cereals for 28 days. Removing these items will help reduce cravings and boost gut health.

No Added Sugar or Artificial Sweeteners: Removing added sugar and artificial sweeteners for 28 days will help with cravings and gut health. Quitting sugar and artificial sweeteners can also help you have more energy, balance hormones, especially insulin levels, and clearer skin!

One Week Keto Diet Plan To Transform Your Body

Avoid All Dirty Keto Options: The goal of this challenge is to eat healthy foods full of nutrients to get our bodies working as efficiently as possible. Messy Keto options can cause bloating, inflammation, sugar cravings, and often lead to post-challenge weight gain.

Drink 64 oz. Water, Daily: One of the most common side effects of the keto diet is dehydration. Carbohydrates are responsible for your body retaining water. Your body will excrete and retain less water. Symptoms of dehydration are often referred to and dangerously labeled as the “keto flu”.

There are many reasons why you might want to try not consuming dairy products. Here are some reasons below!

Intermittent fasting can be associated with this challenge, although it depends on the person. For me, when I add fasting to my diet and compact my eating window, it becomes way too restrictive. This brings back a lot of issues with my past eating disorders.

Some people swear by fasting and in those cases, it does wonders for their body. However, I’m just not one of those people. I like to listen to my body and eat when I’m hungry. So if I wake up hungry, I don’t want to punish myself and wait 5 hours before I can eat. If I wake up feeling hungry, I have the option of waiting until I am hungry. For me, it’s too much pressure on my already fragile mind. Waking up and listening to what my body wants works way better than setting a time gap around food.
