Alternate Day Fasting: The Form Of Intermittent Fasting That Everyone’s Talking About

This Monday I had the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Jason Fung, a leading expert on irregular fasting and low carb diets. We had such an incredible conversation that I had to split this interview into two parts! Please check Part 1, 030 carefully to know about temporary fasting, cancer prevention and whether we should take vitamins and supplements.

Today I would like to share part 2 of our conversation with you! It is full of great information that is sure to enhance your health and improve your life!

Dr. Jason Fung, MD, is a neuroscientist based in Toronto and a world leader in irregular fasting and low carb diets. He is also the best-selling author of The Diabetes Code, Obesity Code and The Complete Guide to Fasting, and co-founder of The Diet-dependent diet program and co-founder of The Fasting Method.

After graduating from the University of Toronto and completing his stay at the University of California, Los Angeles, Dr. Jason returned to Toronto to work as a kidney specialist. He began working with patients to prevent and treat type 2 diabetes and obesity, the leading causes of kidney disease.

He started by prescribing more simple solutions – low fat, low calorie diet and exercise – but he found that such simple treatment plans did not really help his patients lose weight and stay healthy. That no. That’s when he decided to think a little outside the box.

Dr. Jason, along with his friend and professional partner Megan Ramos, developed an intensive diet and diet plan to help their patients actually lose weight, prevent obesity and type 2 diabetes. Avoid kidney disease completely. They are beginning to see tangible results in their patients, and now they are beginning to see that fasting can also reduce the chances of developing cancer.

Dr. Jason believes in the power of continuous fasting to help people lose weight, lower blood sugar levels, reduce drug dependence and improve their overall health. His work is positively impacting thousands of people around the world, and today he is sharing his wisdom and knowledge here on The School of Greatness in the second part of this episode!

In our interview, Dr. Jason provided an astonishing statistic – almost 50% of Americans suffer from type 2 diabetes:

“About 10% – 15% is type 2 diabetes. About 30-35% is diabetes. So the point is that if you put all the sugar in your body, what happens? You can accumulate it, but then all those sugars will spread throughout the body, and all the organs will start to rot. – Dr. Jason Fung

Prediabetes eventually leads to type 2 diabetes, which is extremely harmful to the body and in some cases even life-threatening. How do people get type 2 diabetes? The answer is simple: too much sugar.

“Imagine your body is a plate of sugar. And over the years you have been eating a lot and not using it. So the sugar builds up. Eventually it gets to the point where it starts to leak. “And that is the basis of type 2 diabetes. You store a lot of sugar in the body, which flows into the bloodstream.” – Dr. Jason Fung

People with type 2 diabetes often inject insulin, but Dr. Jason says the treatment is not effective in the long run. Instead of getting rid of the sugar that overflows into the body, insulin simply “confines” it into that first sugar bowl – which will eventually overflow again. The solution to type 2 diabetes is not insulin – according to Dr. Jason, it gets rid of most of the sugar and gives your body time to burn it:

“The solution is not to put in more [insulin] to push it in. The solution is to get rid of it all. … The solution is to get rid of all those sugars. So how do you do that? There are only two things you need to know: Do not put it in and let yourself burn it out. – Dr. Jason Fung

There are many ways you can do this – go on a diet, nutrition. Dr. Jason used the analogy of going to the gas station to fill your car – you do not go to the gas station three times a day to fill the tank, right? If you do, the gas will leak (and it will be a waste of money, right?)

“[It] is the same as the body. Each time you just add more sugar and add more sugar. … [Instead] run that body without sugar for a while. And that is what irregular fasting does. That is why we can reverse [type 2 diabetes]. We wrote a series of cases about 3 patients that we did this for. We just reversed the diabetes like they had diabetes for 20 years and we turned it on. Come back. ” – Dr. Jason Fung

Dr Jason Fung On Fasting & Metabolism

Do you suffer from type 2 diabetes or diabetes mellitus? Do you know other victims? It’s sadly more widespread, but fortunately there is a way to reverse it. Type 2 diabetes can completely destroy your internal organs, give you kidney disease, increase your risk of heart attack and shorten your life, but you do not have to allow it. I encourage you to discuss with your doctor about regular fasting. And whether it suits you or not. And if you want to learn more about irregular fasting, I encourage you to check out Part 1 with Dr. Jason Fung, who explains the different methods!

“It is 100% possible to reverse type 2 diabetes by practicing fasting and getting rid of sugar.” @drjasonfung

Even if you do not suffer from type 2 diabetes, regular fasting has many benefits for your overall health. In Dr. Jason’s new book, The Cancer Code, he explains how irregular fasting can reduce your risk of cancer and other diseases!

But what if you are an athlete and you need a high calorie diet to supplement all the exercise you are doing? Can you still use irregular fasting to improve your health? I asked Dr. Jason for his opinion:

Dr. Jason Fung’s Fasting Methods

“You have to differentiate between weekend athletes, those who really do not have that high level of competition [and professional athletes].… So if you are one of these guys who exercise two or three times a week… [ “Fasting] is perfectly acceptable because if you do not eat, your body will take those calories it needs from your body fat.” – Dr. Jason Fung

If you work in moderation, irregular fasting is indefinable! In fact, it will help you burn fat more efficiently and make room for muscle. However, if you are a great athlete, chances are you need those calories.

“Most [elite athletes] do not have enough body fat to sustain [such a fast], do they? … So what we do there and we work with some great athletes is you have to break something That you are trying to do. So in ‘seasonal’ you really can not be fast. It’s hard to do. You need too much energy. ” – Dr. Jason Fung

This is important for athletes: it depends on your body type, your athlete and other health factors. As always, it is important to talk to your doctor before trying to fast on a regular basis, especially if you are a very talented athlete!

Medical Benefits Of Fasting: According To Dr. Fung & Diet Doctor — Fasting Lane

Of course, fasting is not very effective if you do not eat right from the start! If your diet contains only carbohydrates and sugars, then irregular fasting will not give you the results you are looking for. What you eat directly affects your mental, emotional and physical health.
