Dr. Byrd is a native of Brownwood and attended public school in Killeen, Texas. He is a graduate of the University of Texas (Austin) and attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas where he participated in clinical research. Tom has practiced medicine in Brownwood since 1995 both in private practice and as a hospital where he served as the Director of Clinical Medicine at Brownwood Community Medical Center. Tom has a masters certificate in Global Health and has been involved in hospital development in Burundi (Africa) for several years. There he served as a clinical consultant for the Cornerstone Hospital for Childhood Incidence and was passionate about disease prevention, malnutrition, and community health education.

Michael is a graduate of the BrookeArmy Medical Center Academy of Health Sciences, where he is certified as a Respiratory Care Specialist. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies and a master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies. His training and experience also include work as a hospital and respiratory care officer in the US Navy, and extensive clinical work in internal medicine, cancer care and cardiology. He is board certified by the National Board of Certification of Physician Assistants and is a member of the Texas College of Physician Assistants. Michael serves as Board Chair on the Brownwood ISD Board of Trustees, and on the Hardin Simmons University Physician Assistant Program Advisory Board as a guest lecturer in the HSU PA program and as a clinical coordinator for PA students.
Dr. Hubbard attended the University of Oklahoma where he received his doctorate of medicine in 1984 and completed his residency in internal medicine from Texas Tech University in 1987. Dr. Hubbard has been practicing in the Comanche area since 2008. Prior to 2008, Dr. Hubbard has been practicing in Abilene. Dr. Hubbard served as Chief of Staff, US Army Medical Corps from 1985-1990. Dr. Hubbard is a practicing physician and is affiliated with several hospitals in the area, including Abilene Regional Medical Center and Comanche County Medical Center. It has been providing patent protection for more than 20 years.
Elizabeth has served patients in Central Texas for over 17 years in the medical field and 7 of those years as a nurse practitioner. In 2009, Elizabeth graduated from Texas Tech as a nurse practitioner. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at Texas Tech in 2006. Elizabeth is an Allied Health Fellow of the American Academy of Gastroenterology. Having more than 11 years of diverse experiences, especially in Nurse Practitioner, Elizabethis currently associated with the Regional Employee Assistance Program in Brownwood Texas, working as a Nurse Practitioner with Brown County Gastroenterology, and Pediatrics of Brownwood. Elizabeth is a conscientious applicant and caring provider with bilingual communication skills (English and Spanish).
Tammy has 17 years of work experience in both Family and Internal Medicine while working as a Registered Nurse for 23 years. Tammy graduated from the Texas Tech University School of Health Sciences in 1997 with a BSN and a bachelor’s degree in business. In 2002, Tammy received her Master of Science in Nursing with a Family Nursing major from the Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing (Hardin Simmons University). She received her Bachelor of Science from Tarleton State University in 2013 and her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Hardin Simmons University in 2019. While at Hardin Simmons he went on a medical mission trip to Peru. He is board certified by the National Board of Certification of Physician Assistants and is a member of the Texas College of Physician Assistants. Brittany began her dental career ten years ago as a dental assistant. She attended Howard University in Big Spring, Texas and graduated in June 2018 with an Associates of Science in Dental Care. She then transferred to Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas and graduated in June 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Dental Care. Brittany is also a member of the PHI THETA KAPPA Honor Society. While in school, Brittany also volunteered her time at Texas Mission of Mercy (TMOM) and Mission of Arlington; organizations that help provide dental care to people across the state of Texas.
Dr. Childers is a Family Medicine Physician and comes to AccelHealth with more than 31 years of experience. He has served 20 of those years with the Department of Veterans Affairs in Brownwood, Texas. He is Board Certified in Family Practice by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians. Dr. Childers is a US Navy Reserve Surgeon, serving since 05/1989.
Taira Drews grew up in the small town of Stockdale, Texas. He attended Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas for a Bachelor of Health Sciences degree. His family moved to west Texas in 2018 where he completed his Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Hardin-Simmons College in December 2020. During his studies at Hardin-Simmons College he organized and went on a medical mission trip to the Dominican Republic and volunteered with many other community organizations. Taira is board certified by the National Board on Certification of Physician Assistants. He is enthusiastic and passionate about providing care to rural communities.
