This one was inspired by a health-focused smoothie that an RD made for Blenders.

The 12 Best Healthy Green Juice Recipes To Diy

A high powered blender is best for green smoothies without any visible pieces of greens. Start with a little coconut water in the bottom of the blender to help spin the blades. Then put in the rest of the ingredients and I like a lot of ice. Blend until smooth, adding more coconut water if needed to thin, and ice to thicken.

If you’re not used to green smoothies, I recommend starting with baby spinach, which has a milder flavor than kale.

You can put some ice cubes in the blender and/or use frozen Pineapple and that will keep it cool while making the smoothie.

You can use banana, but banana is a higher glycemic index fruit, to increase the calories in the smoothie and lose the fat burning potential.

I prefer to drink any smoothie within about 12 hours of blending. Sometimes I make it before bed for breakfast the next day. I love making Green Smoothies and adding foods that support healthy digestion, which results in weight loss. When you eat foods that reduce inflammation, the body sheds unwanted weight. I have found that many of my own health issues are related to an acidic body and consuming foods that make me inflamed instead of eating foods that reduce inflammation.

You can use most leafy greens in smoothies. The most popular are spinach, kale, romaine, and swiss chard. All of these vegetables are rich in vitamins and antioxidants, but spinach, chard, and kale pack an extra nutritional punch with lots of iron and fiber.

Spinach and romaine are very tasty and neutral in your smoothie. While kale and chard are relatively mild, their flavors are more pronounced compared to spinach.

Peel and cut ripe bananas into chunks, then transfer the frozen fruit to a ziptop bag and freeze for up to 3 months. I make this whenever I have extra ripe bananas. If you freeze your banana with the skin on, you won’t be able to remove the skin without first thawing the banana.

As written, this delicious green smoothie is naturally vegan and gluten-free. If you want to increase the dairy, you can mix in some yogurt if you like (I like plain Greek yogurt, with a touch of honey for sweetness).

While I prefer almond milk in my smoothies, you can swap it out if needed. Dairy milk, other non-dairy milks (like coconut milk or oat milk), and even coconut water (your smoothie won’t be as creamy).
