I want to start this post by saying that there is nothing wrong with wanting to lose weight! We live in an age where body satisfaction and self-acceptance are widely encouraged and I fully support this. But, it is possible to practice self-love and acceptance while on a journey to establish a healthy weight that works for you!

Weight Loss Kale Smoothie Recipe For Breakfast

There are many reasons why a person may want to lose weight. I consulted a Nutritionist for years helping people do just that. My emphasis has always been on making sure my clients have realistic weight loss goals while supporting them in a balanced way.

This weight loss smoothie is a twist on the smoothie I’ve included in many of my clients’ diet plans and can help promote healthy weight loss in conjunction with a balanced diet!

It all depends on what’s in your smoothies! Because smoothies come in many combinations and sizes, there are those that can definitely support weight loss, in your weight loss journey while others cannot. It also depends on your personal nutritional needs, but I think smoothies can be part of a healthy weight loss plan.

This means no added sugar from sweetened juice or other refined sugar sources. Whole fruits and small amounts of natural sweeteners (maple syrup, dates, or honey) are perfectly fine and a healthy way to help your sweet tooth without loading you up on processed sugars.

Because smoothies often feature fruit, it’s important that they also contain protein to help balance out the carbohydrates in the fruit. Protein also supports muscle recovery and builds better body composition. Whether it’s peanut butter, almond butter, pea protein, cashew butter, plant-based protein, or vanilla protein powder all of these can help provide good protein in a drink.

Just like protein, fat helps balance the sugar content of the smoothie, and makes the smoothie filling and satisfying. But, because it is high in calories, it is important to moderate the fat content. A tablespoon of nut butter or coconut oil, or 1/4 of an avocado is enough!

To make this delicious and refreshing smoothie you only need a few ingredients, each with a specific purpose tied to weight loss support.
