Homemade Meals For Diabetic Dogs – I get a lot of people asking how to make our dog’s food. Since 2012, our SHINY VEGAN PUGS are 100% natural food plant based. Our vet says he is the healthiest pug he has ever treated. Our pugs weigh around 16-16.5 pounds, a perfect weight for their size.
Note: Feeding homemade food eliminates the need to feed your dog commercial dog food. Make sure your dog is a healthy weight and is feeding enough calories. Homemade Meals For Diabetic Dogs
6 a.m.: Stack 1/3-1/2 cup of homemade food (see recipe below) with 1/6 cup of V-Dog food.
Diabetic Dog Treats Recipe
12:00 PM: 1 serving of fruit (1/2 apple, a few berries or other fruit to share) and low calorie vegetables (e.g. a few slices of red bell pepper, cucumbers, carrots, sugar snap peas, steamed) cauliflower, beets, etc. ). Homemade unsweetened plain yogurt or tofu is also given 1T each. See additional snack notes below.
6:00 PM: Stack 1/3-1/2 cup of homemade food (see recipe below) with 1/6 cup of V-Dog food
Additional Snacks: Periodically treat with kale stalks, colored bell peppers, carrots, lettuce, spinach, and other raw vegetables, and occasionally air-fried organic popcorn and a handful (1 teaspoon) of nut butter. (peanut or almond) or organic tofu.
This recipe makes about 18-22 cups (depending on whether or not you add zucchini and sweet potatoes to the mix).
