If you plan, order some groceries, and stock your fridge with healthy options, you’re more likely to fill yourself with good food. You’ll also fill up on non-starchy vegetables and protein, leaving less room for sweets and snacks.

Why nuts? If you look closely at the nut, you will notice that it looks like a small brain. This is nature’s way of telling us why it’s good for us! Research shows that eating walnuts improves brain function and helps fight age-related decline in mental functions. How cool is that? This is thought to be due to their high antioxidant content, but it may also be due to the omega-3s stored in these little bundles of goodness.

What else are they useful for? Your heart! To get technical, they reduce heart disease because they lower bad cholesterol (that’s LDL), reduce inflammation, and improve blood vessel function. Again, being so high in healthy fats and antioxidants means you can’t go past these little bundles of health.

They are about 65% fat and 15% protein, making them a great addition to our meals without increasing our carbohydrate intake. On the contrary, it means that these little sweets are full of energy. You don’t need to eat a mountain of them to get the required amount of calories from them. But the high levels of fat and protein mean you’ll feel fuller for longer.

Directions: Spray a pan with olive oil spray. Add tomatoes. Crack an egg into the pan. Cook over medium heat, covered, for ~8 minutes. Top with feta and walnuts.

This is because most of the “Mediterranean Diet” meal plans I see on the Internet are nothing. Sorry, but edamame beans, small amounts of olive oil, canola oil, meat in every meal, etc. Not part of the Mediterranean diet.
