Weight Loss In 1 Month – Occasionally, I am so impressed by someone’s change that I have to share it. If you’re at Hyde Park Gym, you know Tony. He’s the funny, sometimes quiet one who knows everyone. He is a giver by nature, and in both his personal and professional life, he has taken it upon himself to help others.

A few years ago, he made it a goal to take care of himself and lose weight. He dropped from over 400lbs to 280. At that point he was making great progress, increasing his strength to impressive levels.

He decided to rededicate his efforts to weight loss, so we started him on remote training. We made him an eating and exercise plan, which he implemented entirely on his own. Following these guidelines, he lost more than 15 kilos in the first month! I should note that Tony is exceptional at giving feedback and has great intuition about his body and workouts.

How I Lost 10 Pounds In 1 Month

You’re already pretty talented in the gym, with a deadlift of 515. What made you want to switch to the fat loss goal?

TS: That’s a tough question to answer because there are a few reasons… training is a spiritual practice for me. I set my goals based on what I feel my spirit needs. If I need strength, I get strong, if I need endurance, I do more conditioning, etc. I got to a point in my life where I felt like I needed a complete makeover. I had developed and strengthened a lot of life and interpersonal skills, but I was struggling to grow beyond that. So I realized that the best way to get out of my comfort zone for personal growth was to do it in the gym first.

But if you’re looking for a more superficial answer, it’s because I was going through a breakup and needed a boost in self-esteem.

You’ve clearly had a productive 1-2 months with a 15 pound weight loss. What was the most challenging part?

The most challenging part was allowing my ego to separate from the “powerlifter” image. It’s been really rewarding to work with lighter weights and higher reps… and the cardio. I thought I was in decent shape until you made me do cardio!

What was the most helpful part? What gave you the most tactical and helpful edge in getting your workouts and better eating decisions going?

TS: The responsibility. Since you went above and beyond to help me reach my goals, I feel soooo much more guilty for letting you down than I do for letting myself down. Seriously, knowing I’m going to weigh in, get measured, and report my diet and exercise to you makes me guess the second (sometimes third) piece of pie.

TS: I’m really looking forward to the feeling of knowing I’ve reached my goals in a healthy way. I’ve set weight loss goals before that I was unable to achieve on my own or only achieved because I was starving and overtraining.

I’m also looking forward to buying new clothes! Everything I own is getting too baggy and I no longer need to shop in the big tall section. So many more options!!

Kathryn here again: stay tuned for more updates on Tony’s progress. You know I can’t help but brag about my clients. By the end of April, I reached a point where I was ready to make a change. I don’t know if it was the fact that I was knocking on the door of 30 or what, but I didn’t think I was at my best. For months I tried to really pay close attention to the food I ate. I eat predominantly whole foods, with occasional junk food. Oh, and I love carbs – who doesn’t?! I was ready to lose weight and I was eager to figure out how to do it without starving myself or feeling like I was losing it.

It seemed like no matter what I was eating, I wasn’t seeing the results I wanted. I didn’t want to start counting calories, I wasn’t interested in paying to start a new “diet program” and I didn’t want to completely ditch junk food (let’s be real) in order to lose weight. Another of my favorite meals were these amazing vegetarian spring rolls with peanut ginger sauce. Toss all your favorite veggies into rice paper and get ready for ALL the deliciousness! As for the drinks, I kept them very simple. Water, water and more WATER! If I wasn’t drinking water, I was drinking a smoothie or fresh juice that I made myself. I’ve never been one to drink my calories (with sugary juices, sodas or alcohol), I prefer to eat them, so I certainly wouldn’t stop now!

Of course, what I ate was just part of the progress you see in the pictures above. I started working out more too. Before that, I probably worked out 2-3 times a week. Now I train 5-6 times a week, usually 6.

My husband started a new eating/workout regimen that led him to become a member of Planet Fitness. This means that I was also able to access the gym as his companion! I train with him at Planet Fitness usually 2 days a week. On other days, I like to work out at home by doing exercise videos on YouTube. I really like this! Here are some of my favorites:

I’m no fitness expert, but I’ve heard it’s important to keep shocking your body. For that reason, I try to mix up my workouts so my body doesn’t get used to the same routine. Her workouts are so much fun and half the time it doesn’t even feel like a workout! It uses mainstream music and is easy to follow.
