Bikram yoga consists of the same 26 poses and 2 breathing exercises performed in a precise sequence for 90 minutes. In Bikram yoga (except for my teacher) there is no music, clapping, or talking, and the teacher does not manually adjust your form.

Hot yoga can be practiced in a dark room, by candlelight, on any surface, and is often accompanied by music. The teacher can walk around the room and help students physically adjust their form.

My first class was a beginner yoga class, and although it was very different from any other exercise class I’d taken in the past, it felt really good.
