Womens Healthcare Clinic Of Oregon

Womens Healthcare Clinic Of Oregon – The Women’s Center features materials that emphasize both beauty and durability, while simultaneously using local materials to connect the building to its surroundings.

As the first major initial construction project for Asante Health in Grants Pass, the Women’s Center represented a new direction for health care facility design. The building emphasizes natural daylight in the form of transoms, skylights and windows, letting light deep into the building while maintaining strict HIPAA privacy requirements. The two-story lobby is wrapped with a glass curtain wall and a wooden ceiling accents the entrance while helping to connect the interior spaces directly to the adjacent gardens. The Women’s Center program encourages space flexibility, replacing a doctor’s practice per exam room with more of a studio approach. Priority was given to creating a relaxing and lively space, to create a relaxing environment that relieves the anxieties inherent in a trip to the doctor’s office. The color palette is warm and the textures are on the softer side, removing the clinical edge often associated with healthcare spaces. Sustainable material choices enhance staff work practices through incentives for exercise, recycling and healthy living.

The setting for the Women’s Center is largely rural and the surrounding views highlight the Rogue River Valley. A prominent water feature greets visitors upon entry, with flowing water spilling over the local river rock to provide a resting place. Decorative drains and a retention pond naturally filter rainwater and are the first of their kind in Grants Pass.
